From the desk of our principal...
I am honored to have the privilege
of serving as the principal of Brennen Elementary and look forward to working
with all of you.
The 2003-04 school year marks my
thirtieth year in education (and I'm looking forward to ten more). During
my career in education, I taught English at Spring Valley High School in
Richland Two for twenty years, then served as an assistant administrator there
for the next four years. For the past five years, I have been an assistant
principal at Dent Middle School also in Richland Two.
On a personal note, I was born in
the little town of North, South Carolina, but have lived in the Columbia area
for thirty years. I have two wonderful sons who have attended Columbia
area public schools. My eldest son, age twenty-five, lives in downtown
Columbia and will soon earn his degree in Computer Science from USC. My
youngest son, age twenty-two, also lives in downtown Columbia and is currently
taking courses at Midlands Tech, with a plan to transfer to USC's Hotel,
Restaurant, and Tourism Administration program.
As a family, we enjoy traveling,
snow skiing and (when my sons are being really nice to Mom) attending musical
and theatrical productions.
Again, let me say how excited I am
about being a part of such a wonderful, successful school. It is truly an
honor to be able to work with all of you and to provide our children with
unparalleled educational excellence.
